Our History

Le Grenier à Pain is a genuine French bakery chain which operates in Kenya under a local firm, Boulangerie & Company Limited. Le Grenier à Pain was imagined and created by Michel Galloyer in 1998, and has over 30 branches from Paris to Tokyo. For the first time in Africa, Le Grenier à Pain has two outlets in Nairobi, Kenya.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND LE GRENIER A PAIN

Yan Welffens Yan Welffens is a native French speaker with a passion for food. He joined the hospitality industry in 2001 and has worked and lived on 4 continents. He’s a graduate of the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. As a front runner in the opening and operations of various resorts and spas internationally, Yan has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry. Yan believes that “food should be an experience, not just a meal”.


Myra Kivuvani Myra Kivuvani is an experienced and well-known baker in Nairobi. A graduate in Global Management, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a Cake Connoisseur since 2008.

She is a Director of Le Grenier à Pain Kenya, with an already established corporate and retail clientele in Nairobi. She is also a judge on The Great Kenyan Bake Off competition show, a spin-off of the very famous Great British Bake Off.
